Chantaclers for sale

Post by Farrier1987 » Fri Aug 24, 2018 5:00 pm

Saw this on kijiji near me. Is this a good price? 6 hens and a rooster for 300? Seems steep to me, but what do I know?

The ad says 7 hens and a rooster. $ 300
I can't imagine anybody would be willing to pay that based on one picture.
It would have to be pretty good quality stock and I would expect the ad to give a full description of quality and a picture of each bird, to assume the seller is actually serious. :2cents:

OC said it. $37.50 each for birds of unknown origin, quality and health is awful steep. But if they're close to you, it wouldn't hurt to ask if you could look at them :)

$40.00 per young layer is not unreasonable. That is a break even price. $ 10 per chick+ $1.00 per week for feed costs then guarantee purebred pullet. Not sure how popular Chanties are around here. But, $40.00 per mixed breed pullet from where I am from is not unheard of.

Quality birds can command $100.00 per bird.

Personally, I would go and check them out. Were these parent pics or the actual May hatch?

The chanties are talked about a lot in this area, but you don't see many of them, and I mostly posted this to get a feel for price.

La-shicken, I know you are only here a couple more days, but if you were to come here, they are only about 15 min away from me and I would value your opinion and company and such. I don't expect that to happen while you are on holiday but thought I would throw it out there.
