Non-Exhibition Quality Large Fowl Black Cochins  SOLD

Post by Dave Stuart » Tue Nov 14, 2017 4:59 pm

FOR SALE – eight young Large Fowl Black Cochins - 5 cockerels and 3 pullets - $20 each cash or credit card – see photos of actual eight-head taken 20171114.

Buy the entire flock of eight – buy just the males – BUT - one female must be sold with at least one male.

Hey - The flock would look great just being chickens parading around your estate!

These chickens are approximately eight-months old (hatched April 2017) and weigh: - males seven/eight pounds approximately - females five/six pounds approximately. Males should eventually mature to ten-pounds – females to seven-pounds.

I am a “show chicken” breeder and exhibitor. To ensure I have good stock for competition I have to raise many birds. For my flock I retain <5% of chicks I hatch. Another 50% are sold across North America to other fanciers. Approximately 45% are sold for other uses.

There is nothing wrong with the functionality or health of these big beautiful birds – they just are not good enough for the “beauty contests”. In other words, for show breeders, these birds are smaller and narrower than my flock average.

The females lay big brown eggs beginning at roughly eight-months of age, but Cochins are not bred/selected for egg production (nor are most exhibition poultry breeds).

I will have several other lots of Large Fowl Black Cochins to sell over the next several months after they reach evaluation age. Next set is scheduled for evaluation on or about 20171125.

I do not ship chickens so you would have to arrange for transportation or pick up at my farm.
