Flock of Speckled Sussex, with a problem

Over the last few years I have accumulated a very nice little flock of Speckled Sussex, including a beautiful 2016 rooster. Unfortunately, over the last few of weeks they have learned that they love to eat eggs. I don't have roll away nesting boxes and I am too annoyed now to go to the bother of making or buying them. I will sell the flock at $10/bird. They range in age from 1-3 years old, and I can provide photos when I get off work.

I would be interested in a trade for either good laying hens of a variety of breeds or ducks from a couple different breeds (Magpie, Runner, Buff Orpington, Cayuga, Saxony).

I completely understand if no one is interested in taking these birds, but if you have the right set up they would be a real nice breeding flock. Otherwise they're on their way to freezer camp.

What I have found in the past that has worked for me to help stop eating eggs is to feed them Cabbage. (cut the Cabbage in two)

That's a shame, DL. I don't have the space or setup for more birds, or I would consider it.
What kind of nest boxes do you have at the moment? Is it possible to modify them so that the floors are angled and can have a partition put in the back to block off a catchment area? It doesn't need to be fancy or costly to be effective.

They are supposed to help with egg eating birds too, not sure if you want to bother, but if somebody wants to take them on, they may help in their new home.

You could try adding more protein to their diet. Could they be lacking something else? Are the egg shells thin? I have had my chickens eat an egg because the shell was thin and it got broken when they laid it, but I have never had them break open one that has a good shell.

Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens suggests increasing fiber (grain, bran, seeds, dark leafy greens, including pasture forage). Feed crumbles instead of pellets - they take longer to eat. Make sure they are getting the right amount of protein. Remove the egg eater - hard to do if they are all at it I guess. Give them something to do - free range, add straw bales for them to climb on. Collect eggs often.

My chickens don't go outside so I sometimes dig a clump of grass and give it to them tops, roots, and some dirt on it, and let them tear it apart and eat it. They often eat some of the dirt and they always eat the tops and the roots. It keeps them busy for a while. Giving them cabbage as suggested above probably works the same way.

I've dealt with that issue a few times. Only thing that works is putting curtains on the nest boxes to darken them, and put golf balls in them. Hens get tired of pecking golf balls that give the a headache. Within a few days it usually stops.
Otherwise...I have a flock of Heritage RIR I would consider trading...they lay very well...but on the egg right after it's laid...I am getting sick of that too! lol!
