Kiko Meat Goats

Forum rules
As per Ferrier1987: You are supposed to post pictures when you post about your baby goats. Its a rule here. I just made it up as a rule, but its now part of the forum rules I have decided.

Does anyone on here have Kiko's or know of someone here in Ontario breeding them?

Interesting question. We're just learning about the different breeds. So I Googled it and found a goat article in Small Farm Magazine from 2016 - http://smallfarmcanada.ca/2006/versatile-goats/ . However, the Kiko is only mentioned in the article. Keep us posted!

I had to see what they look like. Wow! what a set of horns!
I found the International Kiko Goat Association website and there are no listings for Ontario or Quebec.

Then I came across Northern Kiko Genetics, they are south of Quebec City and have Kiko's for sale!!

Can you tell I want some goats :)

Andy, I have some goats for you :) Not Kikos, they're mixes that I'm very happy with in terms of both size for meat, and milk production. I've got a nice little starter herd just for you, one buck and three does. Or, if you want just one big, gentle, friendly billy goat to cut your teeth on :

Thanks, Jan but I'm not looking to actually get any at the moment.

On the Northern Kiko Genetics site, they talk about crossbreeding. For meat they use the Kiko Does with a Sire from another breed. The same as commercial hens, Heterosis, hybrid vigour and all that stuff. Very interesting

There was a breeder of Kiko's I think near Osgood. A friend's son worked on the farm. I will see if I can find any information for you.

Tirekickers. I hate tire kickers. Jan. I like your goat. Course I like most goats.
