Dear Muffin, take note, this is what you are to do if you choose to post about baby goats. You will not receive and F on your assignment like you did. Now, this post, I will not get an A. The goats aren't cute enough and belong to the neighbor. I might get a B or so. But when MY goat has babies in the next few days, they will be VERY cute I will send a pic and will get an A as well as a gold star. See the stuff you can learn on the forum?

This is an Alpine doe and her Nubian cross buckling. First timer, no problems. The neighbors are sort of noobies too, and phoned at 5 this am wanting to know if I wanted to come over and watch, I demurred. They knew because they have a baby monitor in the barn, and she had wakened them. Baby was up and nursing. I milked her half out about 10, so the baby could latch on easier and get the milk production coming and make her bag a little slacker. All is well.

I learned stuff in this post so definitely a B+.

Well, I'm not so sure about the learning stuff yet. I learned some, but there are a few unanswered questions and loose ends:
- what happened with the milk?
- what is "demurr"? This is like me talking about URLS and SSL encryption => no one gets it unless you are into it and speak that kind of technical english...
- what is the gender of the baby?
- are they expecting more?

I hope you freeze the extra colostrum in baggies for future use...wayyy better than the fake stuff and will.earn you at least another gold star!

Hey Brebis, why in baggies? I have always used yougurt containers. (Leave about 2 inches for expansion while freezing). Is there a reason baggies might be a better choice?

Well admin, I have replied to you twoce, third time this time. Just as well its you, you can go searching in cyberspace for why my other two didn't post.
Froze the milk, colostrum for in case of a doe rejecting a kid, no milk, or she died in child birth. all this stuff can happen, and its good to have on hand.
Yes, they have 3 other goats, due in the next few months.
Buckling, as in the post, means young male goat.
Demur means to be hesitant and probably refuse politely.
Check with WWL for hard words like that. Take care.

And when I post picters of mine, they will be twicet as cuter.
