Hi all,
I'm getting into hiking/camping with a pack goat.(I love hiking but my back can't handle my pack) I found a great 2 1/2 yr old nubian/lamancha nanny thats never been bred, only used for 4H for shows and obstacle and hiking (perfect). Shes about 28" and 150 lb. Shes just settling in but is too bonded to my horses (the family I got her from sold their other goats and she was living with their horses after the kids lost interest in her) So now I am looking for a second goat to keep her company so she's not so upset to leave my horses. Anyone have a big or with big potential (28"+ 150 + lb) wether thats been bottle fed, very people oriented and real easy going for sale? I have been researching this and am on several packgoat forums and I know a fit 3+ yr old goat can carry 20 - 30 % of its body weight. I'm in Norfolk County, South of Woodstock down by Lake Erie. Just so you know what I'm talking about. These aren't my goats just using the pictures to get my idea across.

How do folks keep the predators away while hiking?

I am hoping to get our little wethers pulling a light cart in the summer.

Ask the goat lady on here she has Boer goats, she probably has something.

Boers are too small. I'm needing an alpine, lamancha, nubian or toggenburg (sp?) breed. Not having any success finding a mature wether thats big enough so thought I would throw it on here.

What about this guy, is he too far from you?
