Processing abbatoirs

Hey folks: i want input on names and locations of abbatoirs that will process poultry and especially waterfowl.

I'd like to raise geese in large numbers (if feasable) and I'd like to know where they can be processed as they must be done at a licensed place to be allowed to market and sell them.

The gov't has a list on the website (OMAFRA) but I know the list is incomplete as I called a bunch of places a couple of years ago and they said the site was wrong.

Tom Henderson abbatoir Chesterville ON does, chickens, pheasants and turkeys but not waterfowl. (613) 448-3471

Any others you know of?

I took my hens down to Country Poultry Processing (Wallenstein) and I'm certain they do ducks, etc. Although...Wallenstein would be quite the hike from Renfrew so I'm not sure how useful this information is to you.

Brennan Poultry in Alvingston (519) 695-6412 seems to be the closets chicken, turkey and fancy fowl processor to Sarnia.

Lambton Meats (519) 845-3358 in Recess Corners does rabbits but not poultry. The Country Butcher in the Northgate plaza is the store outlet.

I do my own or I should say Lizzie (Happy Homsteader) my wife does the processing. Im a Lucky Guy. haha! But we dont sell meat its only for our personal use.

Sticky note this info??

There's a processor in Hagersville

Lowbanks Farms Ltd,
905-768-5644

I've heard Wallenstein is the place to go. I have one about 30 minutes away but if I do a large amount I'd be going to Wallenstein.
