Form 300 Small Flock Grower??

Post by Penny » Wed Mar 07, 2018 4:15 pm

What is it? And do I need it for my small home grown flock, raised from eggs, not purchased meat chicks? When I look online at poultry processing plants it says I need to bring it in?

I have dual purpose birds and I managed to give all my Roos away last year, but KNOW I will have more this year when I hatch some eggs. I would like to process them...I figure if I'm feeding them, they might as well feed me! Im guessing from 5-10 Roos depending ?? I don't have the stomach to try it myself.

Can someone enlighten me?

to go to any abbatoir, they need a form 300.
the form is to be provided to you by the hatchery.
the form was online but I can't find it now.

Yes, you will need the form. To get it, go to https://www.familyfoodgrower.ca/Registration , click the Family Food Grower tab, fill it out and you're done. Form 300 will be e-mailed to you within 2 business days, and you print it off when you're ready to take in your extra chickens. :lunch:
Another thing you may need, is a poultry transport crate...most processors will not take chickens if they're in anything else. Some places offer a crate loan/rental, but those places are few and far between.

No forms needed unless you plan to process more than 50, in which case you have to register with TFO and buy a quota.
