New cat

Post by Shnookie » Sat Apr 13, 2019 10:23 am

I adopted a new cat yesterday. I got him off Kijiji. A girl about 1 1/2 hours away from me was giving him away. It turned out she was coming to Regina yesterday so I picked him up there. I didn't go meet him first, so I hope this works out. She told me that the cat had belonged to the grandfather of a friend of hers. When the elderly man was put into a nursing home, the cat was left to fend for himself. She took the cat in about a month ago and has been trying to find him a home.

He is huge! I didn't weigh him but he feels like he weighs close to 20 pounds. Right now he is stressed, but she said once he adjusted to her place he was really laid back. He's also good for grooming - a plus. She didn't know how old he is, or what his name was. I need a name for him. Any suggestions? These are the pictures she had in the ad.

I love tuxedo cats! They are great guys! He's lovely....ours was named Timber! He passed away last year. Good luck with your new boy! Timber was also 20 lbs. He used to sleep on my chest and I used to wake up thinking I was having a heart attack cause I couldn't breathe...lol

How about Tux, beautiful cat. Poor boy , sad when an owner dies or goes into a nursing home and no one from the family will take them.

About a month ago I replied to an ad for adult cats - a guy's grandmother had died and left 7 cats that needed new homes. He knew nothing about the cats - names ages, medical records. He advertised on Facebook and Kijiji and they all found homes.

I worry about that too. I have no one to take my animals if I am unable to care for them. The best I can do is try to outlive them all (I'm trying!). One thing I am doing is creating a document for each of them that lists all kinds of information about their health, diets, personalities, care, and training. I will put a picture and a description of the pet on as well. At least if they have to be rehomed, the information can be used to create ads as well as to give information to new owners. The documents will be kept somewhere obvious in the house and updated regularly.

I think the name "Mr. Chaps" would suit him. He's beautiful.
