Oh Bert, I'm so sorry :( RIP, Jester.
Was it Cytopoint she got? If so, it doesn't put stress on kidneys.
Will you have an autopsy done?
I've been 'guilty' of throwing large amounts of money at vets to try and fix ailing pets, even when my heart told me it was probably fruitless to do so...but sometimes money is better spent on an autopsy...not just to try and answer the "what and why" questions that can burn and fester in our own hearts, but also because the results can often help educate the vets as well. If absolutely nothing else good comes of that hole they leave behind when they go, sometimes the vets are left with a better idea of what to look for when it happens again, and someone else's  can be saved.

WWW, yes it was Cytopoint, but in hindsight there’s a bunch of symptoms we “misread” and she had been in decline for a while.

no we won’t have an autopsy done.

We’re gonna “plant” her on the edge of the forest, alongside other lost friends, and find a suitable sapling to join her.

thanks again.

Darn, it never gets any easier, the only serious problem with having a dog as I can see it, they don't live as long as we do, so to have a pleasure of their company, we also have to be there for the end.

'tis often better for us to be there at the end than for them to outlive us …...

We here have had sooo many dogs in our lives...they get to be dogs..not overly pampered but oh how they love to come inside and just hang out with their 'people'....most have lived to astonishingly ripe old ages and a couple have left us before their time altho I am beginning to question that...ALL have left a hole in my heart...ALL are deeply and fondly remembered...our lives are forever enriched for their having been with us...it never gets easier when they move on ...but I wouldn't change a thing...Bert, my condolences
