a DOG dilema........

Sorry I forgot to mention that she has been peeing on command from day two, as I said pretty impressed.
We say "go for a pee" , I am sure our neighbors are really impressed, first the rooster starts at 5 am and them me at 6am with "go for a pee and then 7 am and then at 8:30 am.......

I trained my dogs to go for a pee.....but I used 'business' as my command word. 'Time for a business trip' was easier on the neighbors

I also trianed by dogs to ring a bell when they had 'business'.....worked great until the cats figured out, that if I ring the bell, these stupid humans run like crazy to open the door. They started ringing the bell at 2am

Oh that is HILARIOUS about the kitties ringing the bell at 2 am :).

I rigged one up, tied to a kitchen chair, but didn't really need it for the smart dog who has other ways of letting us know that she needs to go out. It was over the head of the less smart dog who never did grasp how to ask to go out. I just have to remember to send her out at regular intervals, especially if it's raining and they don't want to venture outside.

It's funny these things are so ingrained, I have been using the same words forever and to retrain me now would be way harder then training the dog.
I am having trouble with the he is a good boy and she is a good girl though, get the wrong sex on regular bases, may give them some sex identification issues
Our lab cross, never learned to ask at the door, not sure where he was kept before he came to us, he simply stands in the hallway and stares at me, until I get up and let him out, so you could say my training is going well

Ha! Ha! My girl does the same thing, just stands and stares at me. I think she thinks she doing a Vulcan mind meld to get me to do what she wants. It works ,I get up and get her want she wants.

My dog Trixie needs to take pills 2x a day 12 hours apart. My watch goes off 3x a day 2x for her one time for something else. It took her 2 days to figure out when her pill times were.

I find that absolutely fascinating and somewhat scary.
I grew up with dogs (no other children so possibly socialized with dogs rather then humans, would explain so many things;))
and the prevailing wisdom at the time, in the sixties, seventies.... that dogs don't reason.
It wasn't until we had our first Rotti that it became very obvious to me that they can indeed reason, and are very logical thinkers, more so then many humans

I should mention, she completely ignores the alarm at goes off in the middle of the day. But starts coming to me about 2 mins before her pill times.
