Heartworm Meds

Post by Epona » Sat Apr 09, 2016 6:26 pm

For years, I would give the dogs a bit of ivermectin off the tubes when worming the horses. Never had a problem and it did keep them worm free. I didn't think it worked for heart worm. Now that we have a Pyreness, been leary of giving him ivermectin.

Heartworm Meds

Post by madison174 » Sat Apr 09, 2016 8:15 pm

8 years ago we had a dog contract lepto after being vaccinated. It wasn't diagnosed until it was too late because he'd had the vaccine. It's now been changed. But, after experiencing that...we vaccinate our dogs. It was horrible.

We just lost a dog to lymphoma in December...another heartbreaking experience. We're looking into heartworm/flea/tick alternatives to the traditional revolution and such. We live on a farm, so we're not taking chances, but I'd like an alternative too. I don't want to lose another dog in either way :(
