Re: Cooked potatoes
Yep. Mine prefer mashed and I don't give them lots (just leftovers). There's a couple that won't touch them but most go crazy over them.

they won't touch raw (thankfully, because i dropped some on the way to the house from the garden), and boiled and oven roasted they just don't seem to like. but mashed they go nuts for

Re: Cooked potatoes
DH's grandma finished her geese on boiled potatoes mashed with rolled oats or oat meal.
The resulting mash has a very specific not unpleasant smell, I still remember it.
Amazing what sticks in your memory, I don't remember one meal we had there, yet I remember what the geese ate.

Mine go crazy and chase each other around when I throw the peelings out. And the mother hens quirr and talk to the little ones, telling them how it should be done.

Re: Cooked potatoes
Mine eat mashed potato as if it's manna from heaven, but very rarely as we hardly ever have leftovers. Both my son and I could eat mashed for days. With butter and evaporated milk, or butter and herbs, or feta and spinach, or add mayo, onion and apple to make a mash salad...mmmmm. To heck with the chickens!

Re: Cooked potatoes
Ok, after ya all finish digging potatoes, how about a quick trip to my place to pick some apples? I hear pigs love them too
