Organic Bran

Post by Maximus » Wed Sep 14, 2016 9:05 am

My feeder supplier has added a new item to his availability. Organic Bran. Is this beneficial for poultry? Including ducks? I read conflicting opinjons online. Some say it's a 'cheap filler some say it's good for their organs etc.

Anyones experience/ opinions would be appreciated

In people, bran is an intestinal irritant, in poultry, I don't know :/ but, they get bran when you feed them whole grains, obviously, and whole grains cost less than processed, so not sure it makes sense either nutritionally or financially...now, if he was selling wheat GERM, it might be worth a closer look to my mind, bran being the outer part of the seed and germ being the inside part which sprouts. Most chickens really don't need more fiber in their diets lol

Ya, I decided to not go with it. Just didn't see enough benefits plus I worry about it being stuck in their gizzard ?
