Poultry Talk Ontario (pto.ca)

Once again the Acton Ag Society holding its annual poultry show on September 15,2018 . We have classes for all recognized and non recognized varieties and breeds of Large Fowl, Bantams , Ducks,Geese , Turkeys , Guineas and pigeons. We do not charge entry fees but do retain 10 % of winnings over $50 . We have two fine judges in Roxanne Daley of Ontario and Jonathan Patterson of Indiana doing the honours. We pay on Best of Variety and Reserve ($3 & $2) , Best of Breed and Reserve ($10 & $5 ) and Best and Reserve of Classification ( $15 & $10) . APA /ABA rules . For the pigeons we pick best and reserve of Breed ($5 and $3 ) and pick a champion ( $50 ) Reserve ($25) and award $10 to the next best 8 pigeons.

Troy.......so a Saturday one-day show..........can long-distance exhibitors coop-in Friday afternoon/evening? If yes, will someone have an eye on the birds overnight? Thanks, and great for the fancy poultry industry that people like you volunteer your expertise.

Yes a one day show... yes you can check in friday night4:30 pm - 9 PM ... building is locked after 9 PM ... and I reopen at 7:30 AM .. they did a major renovation on the building 2 years ago... cement floors and led lighting .. all good.Oh and We pay out the prize money on Saturday prior to release.. Would be happy to see you and your birds you should try to get that buddy of yours from Reeses corners to come as well lol...

Does the fair supply the geese cages or the exhibitor?

Yes .. we have accesess to about 20 goose pens .. all good... so bring on the turkeys and geese.

WHAT!

Crystal lol... is that a WHAT thats a lot or WHAT thats a small show lol.... Our fair is quite different from most ... lots of great birds for a small local fair. The days of the stringmen showing 150-300 birds from one farm are pretty much done in this area. This 420 birds made up for mainly the top breeders in the area. Pretty cool.. in Reality a warm up to OPB. 420 birds by 39 exhibitors .
