C.O.P. &G.B.A Fall Auction

Post by Epona » Tue Nov 07, 2017 7:16 pm

Anyone going to the Fall auction this Saturday? I'm going to take some birds for the first time. Kinda worried that the weekend is really busy with Remembrance Day and the Royal so there might not be too many folks there. Fingers crossed.

I'm going with my daughter. I'm not really looking for anything, but you never know.

Was a small crowd. Turkeys went for around $25.00. Guineas were around $10.00 or a bit more a piece. There was an awesome pair of Brahms. Sign said show quality....certainly looked perfect to me. Went for well over $100. Got to see my first peacock pheasant. I think it was the highest bid for the day. Came home empty handed. I tend to be way more cautious of bringing home new in late fall. A lot tougher isolating them and health problems are always harder to deal with in the cold. My experience, anyway.

We had a really good day. I needed a day to get "grounded" and poultry therapy is a perfect way to accomplish that. I went with my Daughter and her Fiancé who are getting married in 2018. We have been so busy wedding and dress shopping it felt really good to get out and be around a bunch of fellow poultry people. Spending hours in wedding dress boutiques is very far out of my comfort zone. I did not come home empty handed. I really am bad at down sizing.

A bourbon Jake, a white Chantecler hen, a pair of Ringneck pheasants, and a trio of bobwhites. All things I already have, but prices were good so why not add some genetic diversity?
