Vernon EBBA sale Saturday

Post by Skinny rooster » Thu Mar 16, 2017 12:30 am

Well it's always the first sign of spring around here in chicken land, the sale at Vernon is this Saturday, can't believe it is here already.

I am thinking about going and maybe buying something. Anyone on here taking anything? I think I would feel more comfortable bidding on something from a PTO member and I would keep an eye out for your boxes. If someone is too shy to post here then send a private message to let me know. I will probably be watching for bantams, standards and maybe even call ducks.

Same here - not selling or buying, just looking. It's only about ten minutes down the road from us, so it's a fun thing to do, and doesn't take up a big chunk of travel time.

The ilt really scares me... I wear clothes and just throw them out after... and I have specific boots that I keep in a plastic bag and never sees my property... I think I will be selling a few pairs at the vernon sale.. black Sumatra... blue orpington... speckled Sussex... Light Sussex.. and some bantams.. haven't decided if I'm bringing them or not...

I'm the same way, RR - I never wear anything to sales that come anywhere near my chickens' "living areas". Car tires get washed down in the driveway upon our return. That said, I do have more than a little trepidation about attending the sale this year.

I think as long as you take all of the necessary precautions, you should be fine to go enjoy the sale! :)

Vernon EBBA sale Saturday

I have been to the Vernon show and yes seems well organized. I have only bought a couple birds in the past, nothing this time. I have my "feed store" clothes and rubber boots" to wear, which are separate from my "chicken clothes" I wear when taking care of my birds. I just picked up some more Virkon the other day and will mix some up in 1 gallon sprayer to spray my boots.

Well.... you guys really suck.... lol no just kidding. I would be the same way if I still had my birds. Sometimes I worry because there are people that if they thought their birds had some disease, they would try to sell off the healthiest birds before they got sick and I don't want to end up getting them. Maybe I will just get chicks.

Lol, it's going to look bad for the sale if the audience is full but the tables are bare! Oh well at least I could get some of the home made pie they sell there.
