Royal winter fair

Post by baronrenfrew » Fri Sep 09, 2016 8:32 pm

So the Royal Winter Fair is Nov 4 through the 13

The poultry show is listed on the schedule Shows Sat Nov 12 for the poultry show, but this must be wrong because in the same ring at the same time is the National Jersey Show; milking classes

I suspect the poultry show is Sunday 8am the 13th. I guess i'll have to email them.

Yep, it's the "big cheese" of fall fairs. It happens after them all, and it is the most prestigious one to win at.

Our neighbour's grandaughter (now in her 30's) was a six year old and made the Toronto Star for sleeping on their prize winning bull (maine anjou?). A school buddy of mine was also there and saw the whole show. The little girl pulled the bull around the ring (a gentle giant he was) and he walked with a stiff leg as a result of her nap. (I think the bull won 2nd place).

LMAO, the full schedule also shows square dancing and the junior sheep show in the same ring at the same time. That'll be fun!

Oooh I would love to go, usually the weather turns bad with freezing rain. One year when I was still in the city, there was a bus tour company just down the street from me and they offered a packaged deal for a trip to the fair, hotel stay and shuttle service back and forth throughout the day and at a reasonable price. Sooo I started planning and then the bird flu virus hit, the one that people could contract, so the poultry show was cancelled and I didn't go.

Lol, Baronrenfrew, how many people read that and pictured in their minds a group of frightened sheep running from twirling square dancers, knocking over cages of panicked birds flying everywhere!
