South mountain auction

If the prices at Vernon and Quinte are any indication then the prices should be good for sellers and Buyers will pay for what they want at a price they are able to afford.

It will be another good auction and actually close to home this time, only 10 Mins away.

The club Is the Oxford on the Rideau Bird Club.

Doors open at 7 and the sale starts a 9AM will end when the last box is sold the earliest I have seen is about 2PM

Very good story about the sale in today's Ottawa Citizen, and a great picture too.
Well written with oodles of actual correct information, very enjoyable. :)

Thanks for the heads-up, OC, and thanks for the link, Doug.
After reading some of the things being sold, it's a good thing I didn't make it this time - too much temptation. ;-)

South mountain auction

It was a good auction but it was a seller's market again like Vernon and Alfred. I still have one pet peeve with that auctioneer who had the red plaid shirt. Every time, at every auction, when his helper says 'Cornish-Mix" he will announce into the mike "Cornish". If there is extra information on the tag, he ignores it. So, if you do not hear the helper, and are bidding blindly based on what he says, then you get screwed. I know you should always go and check what is in the boxes and take notes but sometimes if you have a kid with you or if there are too many people, you take a chance. Rant over :)
