Anyone here keeping/breeding chocolate turkeys? I know someone on PSO got some last year, but I cannot remember who.

Yes, she got them in a egg auction. Good hatch rate I believe.

Great news MFP!
I think it's great that you and others are posting for the first time. Wasn't all that hard, was it?

With buy and sell stuff, we have a whole section of ads (buy and sell) where members here can go and post their ads. That's where everyone goes and looks for it.
You can find it here:
http://www.poultrytalkontario.net/site/ ... rowse-ads/
I think it will be the best way for others to find your need for Bielefelder chickens. It's very easy, just follow the instructions there. If you need help, we admins are there to help you!

Good luck!

Chocolate Turkeys

Post by Silkie Sue » Sat Apr 02, 2016 10:48 pm

Hi Guys.. i am a little late to this party. Jim did get a hold of me. With the removations over the last 4 months i really did not set any eggs or even arrange breeding pens until recently. i am usually overrun with Polish chicks by now but i only have 5 so far, thanks to Karrie's incubator skills. The 3 Chocolate turkey hens and the Tom were in their run but i separated them beccause one of the hens had plucked all the feathers off his chest. then i talked to Jim and i decided to put them together again but i noticed one hen had ridiculous large gashes on her sides, i mean i was horrified, they had already started to heal but man, they are like 5 inches long and about 1/2" deep. i commandeered my mother to make me a turkey size hen saddle and it fits great but i am going to give the girls another week or so break before i put them together again. Laying eggs is not a priority for them at the moment anyhow.

Best of luck Sue. One of my Beltsville hens ended up with a large gash on her side as well, seems to be healing, crazy turkeys, not very graceful.
