I have a trio of ring necked pheasants I got last fall. I am wondering if they will hatch their own eggs and raise the young?

I do have an incubator but if they hatch their own less work for me.

We used to either use incubators but the best way was always the Bantam Hen. They also learn to stay around well when a hen is used.

If they have a lot of privacy it can happen but don't count on it .

Yes they will, but like baronrenfrew said, the environment has to be just right and very safe, the chicks fly and don't listen to mom ;)

Thanks for the advice.

So I made a safe hidden spot in my enclosure. I have been putting eggs I have found in that spot since. I had four eggs in it then the next day they were all moved out of the hidden spot. This took work for the bird to move them that far. I took the eggs out. So I looked in the spot and there were signs of a nest being made. That was Tuesday. Today three more eggs were moved out and a different nest was made. This one is deeper. And one egg sitting right beside the new nest.

Do I take the eggs away our leave them?

Any advice?

Why don't you do both. Take a few eggs for the incubator and leave some for Mum. Then if she looks solid you can put them back under her.

I'm hoping to get a bantam tomorrow at the auction. See if that will help.
