Moving Peafowl nests

Post by Epona » Fri May 27, 2016 8:34 am

This is the second time I have tried to move one of my free range peahen nests to a safer location into the coop. Total flop. I've done both times at night. I've had 100% success moving turkeys in broad daylight. So fustrating. She was in our drive shed, but of corse it would be the old shed that is farthest from the other buildings and backed against the bush. Oh well, at least she will live to lay again. Have my smartest and oldest hen laying right in the coop's nursery on her own initiative. And one young hen way up in the round bale barn. Fingers crossed.

I moved a goose nest once with one of those long wide snow shovels, I moved the entire nest into a stall in the barn. the geese were going absolutly nuts and I was very lucky to survive LOL. I showed the geese in and she sat right away. I think I was just very lucky!

Good luck with your peafowl!
