Wax?

Post by Zlorfik » Thu Jul 27, 2017 7:12 pm

Hi everyone, we raise Pekins for meat. Last year we had great success with duck wax, but I just processed 4 (two came in at 7 pounds at 7 weeks!) with paraffin and it was hell. Problem is, I can't seem to find anywhere close that will sell duck wax. Any ideas?

Berryhill in St. Thomas carries it. Sounds expensive but it can be recycled a few times if strained and cleaned.

Paraffin wax can work if applied properly but duck wax is better.

Did you remember to dip in wax floating over hot water bath, then dip in cold water to harden wax. Repeat this a few times if wax layer too thin to peel. (subsequent dipping in hot water must be quick enough not to melt wax already hardened) or follow these manufacturer instructions.
