Greetings to the community. We are new to this hobby and started only last year. We got a couple of Silkie chicks from an acquaintance and my wife and I fell head over heels over this creature. We got other Silkie birds later that same year to make a flock. Ordered and built a coop and run and made tons of mistakes. We are not worse for the wear and are very passionate.

Lots of good info and knowledgeable people here. Don't be afraid to ask whatever. There is no such thing as a stupid question except when I as on purpose, like when I asked Happy if the Attends did the trick. (Oops, forgot I wasn't to tell.)
You have silkies. They are such good natural mothers. Check out maybe sitting one on eggs when she goes broody. I find a dog crate or sum such to be great for that. A little privacy and the others don't lay more eggs in the next, so you know where you are hatch time wise. Some water and food in with her, and you can see in. You will know she is broody when she wont get off the next for a couple days and quirrs and swears and growls and pecks at you when you put your hand near.
Continue to enjoy your birds, and expect strange looks from some when you expound on how much you like this hobby.

Hi
@OscaRed we had a silkie rooster...when kids came over..they ignored our other chickens, kitten, and puppy and play with the rooster all day...he didn't seem to mind

people used to ask us if he was a chicken all the time

Everything you need to know about chickens and more is here in this forum!
