Reluctant Urbanite

Post by spuddog59 » Sun Apr 05, 2020 1:16 pm

Hello, All!

I am the living example of "you can take the girl outta the country, but you can't take the country outta the girl." Had to sell the small farm for health reasons and move into Windsor, ON poop . Previously raised Beltsville Smalls, Chanteclers, Khaki Campbells, many other chickens, geese, ducks, quail. Fiber business based on a German Angora herd of 25, plus other rare breed rabbits. :rooster-171: :bunnyhop:

Now in the city in the midst of this epidemic and looking to the security of the supply chain for food in the long term. All I am allowed to keep here is pigeons. Up to 80 of 'em! So ima do it! Maybe a few 'pet' quail indoors too... :chickennet:

2 dogs, 2 cats, 4 fish tanks, many plants and container gardening in a tiny duplex w. 2 adult offspring who remain reluctantly tolerant of my critter projects. Am a retired landscape architect. Hubby is a city boy thru and thru, but he loves to eat, so birds are good! I used to belong to PSO, and am so pleased to be back in the mix with a group of people who are literally so down-to-earth and know what's what! :wee:

Cheers,

JM "spuddog59"

Hello and welcome, a bunch of us here used to be on PSO too. Pity you can't keep the others. I raise Beltsvilles and love them!

Hey, welcome. I am near Merlin. Maybe see you at the Harrow sale last Tues every month, if it ever gets going again. Lots of pigeons and rabbits and chickens and stuff.

Hi JM and welcome!
We are city folk who couldn't afford a place in the country 35 years ago, so we're doing the small farm thing in our "retirement". Call it a career change for both of us.
