Hello and welcome!
Yes you have to learn to control the chicken math before it controls you. I know people who spend 5 hours a day looking after their chickens. Put a limit on the number of chickens you think you should have and stick to that limit. You will be happier and stay in the hobby much longer that way.

OK @kenya I resemble that remark!
1. It's chickens AND turkeys.
2. It's maybe not 5 hrs a day but nearer to oh....
3. They need me to sit in the paddock and drink coffee with them and have little chats, we would all be so unhappy if we didn't.
So @Nicole B only do what makes you happy and what you can manage and the heck with what anyone else thinks!

@kenya - Too late for rational thought now. I am in too deep. LOL
@Killerbunny - Mine would be unhappy too if I didn't spend some time chatting with them. If I don't they follow me around the yard trying to tell me all about their day.

I notice you are very close to West Lorne. It's a good area of Ontario for PTO folks.
I think it is a good area but sounds like there is more to know. What makes it good for PTO folks in particular?

Welcome to PTO, Nicole. Yes, they are a fine group here and a group with lots of experience. I am still a novice and have learned a lot from asking a multitude of questions.
And I would say, if both you and all of your chickens are happy, that's a good thing.
