Hya from Trent Lakes

I'm so new I'm still in the prepping process. Will be ordering my pullets start of June. Looking at GLW (Gold-Laced Wyandottes).
To-dos"
Cut out the door for the birds in the coop, as this is a converted coop. Still figuring on where to put it, floor is optional, a vertical door would take more configuring.
Make a ramp. Add sand to the 'box' for dust baths..
Make outdoor swing. Add couple shorter lower perches in the coop.

Thanks for reading.

Welcome to PTO, @Edwina . Lots of helpful and knowledgable people on this forum.
Sounds like you're well on the way to being ready for your flock.

p.s., I would put a swing low on your priority list: DH built one for ours a few years back, and they never used it. We tried putting them on it, but they couldn't get off and far away fast enough. They do like their little portable ladder roost in the run though. :-)

Yup - ungrateful whotsits never used the one my DH built either LOL!
The really critical thing is predator proofing especially where you are.

Mine hated the swing too. Took it down about as fast as I put it up😊

Good point, in fact I was doing more gap- filling along my run, I'm reusing dog kennel fencing but my terrain is far from level, and mostly boulder/bedrock, so lots if gaps to fill.
Does anyone who's customized their coop, reccomend either the floor trap door or the vertical coop door? I can custom either, in a fashion, and neither would be simple to do. Either way, I'll need an auto alarm like ChickenGuard as I work evenings and would never be home by dusk.

Thanks!
