Oh no I wish I seen this before I ordered two dozen Serama hatching eggs from DC. They’re mailing them out next week. If they’re diseased will it contaminate my Bator and Hatcher?

Some mycoplasmas are transmitted via the egg. If it were me I would not hatch them because the chick may become a carrier for the rest of your flock. I don't think it is worth risking however it is your decision. There are some good serama breeders around.

So, 3 years ago I order from DC heritage. I ordered salmon faveralles, silkies, D'Unccles. I got my order incubated and hatched. All my chicks were happy heathly chicks. I had one with a crossed beak and that was it. I still have 2 of them in my flock. They are wonderful birds. I did order before I knew any better but I had a good hatch.

Good luck! Seramas are lovely little birds.

Wow, so glad I found this thread. DC Heritage was on my list of who to probably buy from, and I was just trying to recall where they were located... so I put DC Heritage into google and one of the auto-complete things added "puppy mill", and brought me here.

I'm just planning to get started with backyard chickens this spring in our (fairly large) urban yard. I had certainly heard good things of Performance Poultry but my thinking was to get hatching eggs and Performance Poultry seems to do only chicks, not hatching eggs. Any tips for me for recommended breeders? My thinking is I'd like to have mostly just 1 breed (considering Buff Orpington or Black Australorp), plus include 1 or 2 Maran and 1 or 2 Ameraucana for the egg variety. I like the idea of the green-beetle sheen on the Black Australorp.

So, can anyone recommend any breeders in Ontario where I might get all 3 or 4 of these breeds, hatching eggs, at one place?

Hello and welcome!
We have an "I'm New Here" forum so why don't you put a post in there and tell us a little about yourself and your birds and critters. ALso if you put in an approximate location in your profile it will make it easier when you are looking for birds, eggs etc.
We also have a wanted section where you can post when you are looking for birds and eggs. We have plenty of breeders on this forum.
Don't hesitate to ask questions here either we try to be helpful and non-judgemental.
Best of Luck.

Thank you so much @Killerbunny, I've just done exactly that, an "I'm new here" post, and updated my location.
