Sneaking in from Manitoba

Hello -

I'm in Anola, MB (near Winnipeg) getting ready to start a small flock of seasonally pastured Chanteclers in spring 2018. Who knows how the project might grow, but since I have no experience with livestock of any kind, my initial goal is to simply learn how to keep chickens alive & still laying a few eggs through harsh Manitoban winters.

I'm especially hoping to glean information from others raising dual purpose birds in harsh winter weather.

Hello and welcome.

I just added a small group of 6 White Chanteclers to my flock for egg laying and meat, I picked up this Fall from a breeder in Quebec.

No need to sneak in. I see you found the "User Map". :coolguy: We are certainly Ontario heavy, but not Ontario exclusive....

Hello and welcome. -30 this am here! My birds are laying again (a few but I'm grateful). They have insulated coops and a flat panel heater to take the edge off. Heated waterers are huge for me. The link below courtesy of Jaye.
