There is lots of info to be learned on this site. I'm still learning, and I am a "veteran" hen owner for a year now! :-)
Plus we have meat chickens and turkeys.

Hey Webber, I don't mean to be too hard on you, I just want to set you up for the reality of birds. Nothing tees me off more than folks who get "romantic notions" of chickens then they don't butcher/sell them cheap/drop them off at the humane society (Vancouver and Seatle got lots) or worse have no use for extra cockerals and kill them and dump in the garbage (i know one guy like this: i take his birds and process them).

And nothing will ruin your day like a bunch of dead or missing birds.
