Hello from Cardinal ON
Hi I just found thia forum on a search for Partridge Chantecler breedera. Very happy to have found it. We have a small 20 acre property we are working on homesteading it. It has lain fallow for about 20-30 years so needs everything from scratch. Tried a garden this year droght killed most of the seeds seedlings plus the soil needs a lot of organic matter! We did get oir first trio of Chanteclers and built a series of tractors for them from scrap wood, trying to recycle as much as we can. . it is a very new experience but we are enjouing it

Welcome! I am also new to this site. Chickens are also new to us!
Boy this year was an awfully dry summer. My husband had created a huge vegetable garden from a field behind the house. We had to water it all by hand. First with well water, then with lake water that he pumped into two 45 gallon containers.
I have been sprinkling chicken manure in the spaces between where the veggies were. Next spring, we will plant the rows where the manure got sprinkled. And hopefully, it will be a better summer, with more rain.
