Glad to have found an Ontario forum

Hello Everyone!
I'm new to this site and am also new to having chickens. So I'm on the chicken learning curve. Have had chickens since June 2016; those were the (non-sexed) Red Sex Links as meat chickens. In July we got our Black Sex Link pullets. At present, all of the hens are now layers and we have one rooster (the other nasty ones are in the freezer).
Looking forward to connecting with knowledgeable chicken owners.

Hi KimChick and welcome! I'm no expert either and fairly new to raising poultry myself. A couple years ago, my husband and I started with meat chickens too and then the following year we started to raise Partridge Chantecler dual purpose chickens. We also have various ducks. You came to the right place, it is an informative site, with lots of knowledgeable people to assist you.

Oh no! Another person with romantic notions of keeping chickens!

Good day and welcome eh! :farmer:

Welcome to chickenland! Lol. Black sex-links are awesome layers. Oddly enough today I was thinking about my first two that I bought many years ago as a kid, they laid really well for a long time. Very hardy hens, I guess that's because their mothers are Barred Rocks. Lots of information and ideas here.

My favourite lady, "Nearly" was a black sex link and I still have a daughter and granddaughter! Lots of poultry people in Leeds & Grenville too. Watch out for chicken math!
