Well Gidday eh! My advice is to go and visit birdfolk and see their set up so you can learn what to do and not to do. KillerBunny is near Brockville and has Beltsville Small white turkeys so her place is a great start. Keep in mind her fencing and predator protection, as I read an article from a coyote researcher and there's 12 "packs" of coyotes in Prince Edward County (if I remember correctly from the tagging program).
Plan the barn and think of windbreaks and planting trees as you are in a "warm" area of the province. According to one fruit/veg dealer I know PEC has one month longer "frost free" growing season than us in Ottawa and good for heartnut type walnuts.
Two events coming soon: EOMF (Eastern Ontario Model Forest) winter event March break (no details yet) and there's ECSONG - Eastern Chapter Society Ontario Nut Growers. I'll put winter meeting details up on this site today.

Congrats on the new place and good luck with the build! I didn't think there were too many houses being built in PEC so I can imagine there were a lot of hoops to go through.I'm new to the chicken life as well with just a year under my belt, but I'm loving it and I'm sure you will to!

This past summer, we had turkeys. Plus we have our chickens. They had their separate enclosures, but we let all of them out to free range while we were outside. There were never any problems. When we were ready for them to go back into their respective enclosures, we just herded them in. We had to take a head count with the hens and would always seem to be missing one, until she would magically appear.
