New! Looking for squab

Post by @squabcurious » Thu Mar 09, 2023 10:35 am

Hi everyone! I'm a documentary filmmaker, and I'm looking for a farm where I could film some B-roll of pigeons/squab within a few hours drive of Toronto. Anyone have any ideas or leads? This seems like a lovely community, thank you for letting me post.
Cheers,
Lucy :wave:

The irony of it all, remember when the "Pigeon King" was going to make farmers rich by raising squabs ?
You would think there would be few of those magical giant birds left around.

@squabcurious try the Chinese community
They love eating squab. Try Chinese grocery stores. I haven't checked but T&T Supermarket has fresh squab for sale on their website. https://www.instacart.ca/products/21240312-squab-per-kg Also, it's on the menu at Yu Seafood at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto. You can call them and ask. Also you can try calling other restaurants. I don't think the average person will want to pay $48 for a squab considering how much meat there is on a squab so you should focus on Chinese fine dining restaurants. Also, try looking for websites for Chinese chefs and "foodie" sites they may know where the farms are. Good luck!
