Save our Chinese for New Years . Not sure this year .
We do too (save it for New Years). DH's family tradition started by his parents when they were still with us. At Golden Palace, so no dishes. ;-)
Ross, why "not sure this year"?

A rich yeasted fruit bread with marzipan rolled into the middle before baking. Recipe below. I hope it freezes too LOL!

We have whatever my mother makes. She made it clear to all of us, years ago, that she wants to prepare, and have holiday dinners at her place as long as she is able. Cabbage rolls are always on the menu.
So we all bring something that we want to bring.
One year, my sister (the chef) brought spaghetti squash with a hint of curry. Boy, that was tasty.

I think that is the idea, Xmas tradition and dinner is exactly what anyone wants to make of it!

I look back over the years on how our traditions had changed, started out with the good old "Christmas Eve" fish dinner and the presents after that.
As the children grew, it morphed in to a Date depending on when everybody could make it, so anywhere between Dec 24th and 26th .
requirements of new girlfriends and then new in laws had to be taken in to considerations, until now when the celebration is whenever everybody can make it somewhere between when people get up, the babies have a nap and grandma turns in to a pumpkin.
Somehow the date seems to have lost it's initial importance ;)
