I don't really use a lot either. I just bake with it and use in my breakfast sausage patties when I make them. I don't think I'll get that much, part of me thinks I should of gathered back in Feb. I suspect after the upcoming cold next week it will be too warm. But we shall see.

In one afternoon I'd say I gathered close to 3 gallons. So what is that? 5ml of syrup? :)

hehehe Well then you would need to collect approximately 32 gallons of sap to make 3 liters of syrup. You can DEW IT!

So if you collected 3 gallons in one day it should take you ten days, or get more taps.

Its really fun to make syrup, no matter how much you end up with!

Good luck!

I have 9 taps, 7 trees. That's all I'm doing this year. I'll see where I end up :)
But I suspect I'll be buying maple syrup before next season anyways lol!

The large size deep steam table trays is what many hobbyists, including myself use. They have a large service area and they are relatively cheap.

Andre
I have no idea what that is. But I shall Google. Thank you!
This is my Evaporator with two steam table tray pans. BTW last year with 7 taps I made 10.3 L of syrup. 9 trees could give you a fair amount nature permitting of course.

Heres our setup. The pan is divided lengthwise...can't see it from this picture. I have an old milk strainer in there, to strain the sap first. After it comes off..... sometimes we finish it on the propane burner thing..... its strained again. Heres a couple pictures. We made some maple candy too. Holy sweetness. We've cooked 4 batches so far. Finally have some in the cupboard for us, lol, after giving the 4 kids a half litre each.

Very cool setup! I built my evaporator this year (was using turkey fryer before) but have not built a cabin for it yet. It is on the long list of future projects! I also have not tried making Candy yet, got any tips?
