Picking Black berries today

:D I Picked Blackberries today. Good size, good yield and nice and juicy. A gift from God.
Also a lot of Elderberries. How do you know when they are ready to pick? We were going to make Jam out of them.

Yum! Elderberries are ready when they are dark purple, but good luck getting to them before the birds do!

I don't think they even got purple and in the space of 4 days they were gone.

Just saw this post.
After lamenting to a farmer neighbour how we nearly lost our blueberry bushes to deer munching on them, he asked how many bushes we have. After telling him we have three bushes, he said that's why; we need to plant way more so the deer won't get all of them.
The deer didn't touch the currant bushes.
