Well after the ghastly corn last year we found our favourite again, honey select. DIscovered that it is bred so as not to be affected by other varieties growing in the area!

Lots of others sell seed too.

definitely "sweet" corn! we tried it one year, and *gasp* we decided it was too sweet for us. LOL. I'm just doing the regular peaches and cream SH1 this year again. INSIDE the garden so the ducks and chickens don't eat it on us again. ha ha.
glad you found it again, it was hard to find last year. our neighbours grow it, and ended up growing some other alto or something like that, which just wasn't the same and not as good against blight.

I just spray BTK (bacillus thuringicus) on mine just before tassling-the BTK kills the ear worm when it eats it. and BTK is organic, it also works on cabbage loopers, cutworms, etc and most caterpillars (just be careful not to spray on monarch caterpillars because it will kill them too-i don't spray my parsley or milkweed). BTK will also do in gypsy moths and tent caterpillars! and it's non toxic to mammals, bees etc. it really is one of the better pest controls i have ever found.

Ok great and I just found out I'm really allergic to gypsy moths. I thought it was an immune response to something because every day I keep on getting more and more puss filled welts. Then my friend asked me to sign a petition to get Caledon to spray BTW on their forests to control the moths. I complained about how many moths there are and the welts on my arms and she said it must be from the moths. They were falling like rain from our birch tree when I was mowing the lawn and it was sooooo hot so I only had a T-shirt on and now I have extremely itchy welts all over my arms. I found this article and in a this was interesting.
