OK folks, what do you do with kohl rabi? It was my free seed!

I am probably not the right person to offer recommendations, don't like coleslaw much, lots of people use kohlrabis for that, I like my veg "naked" possibly damaged in my childhood by being fed veg boiled to death.

I like them about the size of largish apricot, peeled and eaten out of hand just like an apple.
Lazy woman way, since they are so easy to peal with your teeth, they never make it out of the garden here

That comment brought back memories of an Xmas dinner by relative all cooked in one pressure cooker - ugh. My mothr brought a new meaning to beef carbonde too possible rerulting in my love for darn near raw steak.

I like them raw too. Sliced into julienne sticks in salads, or roasted.

On todays menu:

Pan fried perch
New potatoes
Peas and carrots

Desert: Strawberry short cake with cream

Nuff said.

Anybody ever grow round zucchini?
I bought and started regular looking green zucchini seeds (just OSC brand) but its become obvious that they were mislabeled. Wondering if taste is similar. There's an abundance of flowers so I'm not concerned about low yield at least.

my last package of osc zucchini seed was obviously crossed with pumpkins...they were nasty. i ended up pulling the plants out. thankfully i had some vesey seed that i had also planted and they were actually zucchinis....
kohlrabi is great raw in salads. can also be cooked like potatoes but i prefer them raw.

Dinner is serv-ed.

And of course like good rural people, we have breakfast dinner and supper. None of this dinner in the evening nonsense.

And the last zuchini seeds I got were the regular kind, and they were nasty like all zuchini.

@Farrier1987 if you saute with lime juice and ginger COURGETTES are really nice - teehee.

The only veggies ready in our garden are radishes, lettuce, and young kale to thin out and use in salads. Yummy!
It is a year for plants being infested with bugs because of the lack of rain. Ugh!
The chamomile has aphids; zucchini and squash have beetles (and were therefore dusted).
Some of my flowers' leaves are being eaten, too.

Sweet potatoes vining. What is the advice, do you ever cut the vines? Nip the ends? lift them up so they dont root? Just leave them alone? Logic says to me that when they put down more roots they are going to try to grow more sweet potatoes, so you would get more of them but smaller. Voice of an experienced grower would be appreciated.

I have been picking a few leaves and putting them in salad. If we ever get over this corona thing and I can take some to my Chinese friends, they are a really nice green when stir fried.
