Just scored a sack of Yukon Gold, they'll be going in tomorrow. Low supply here Feed store said they have sold 10x seeds chicks orders etc. than ever before.
The plants from @Farrier1987 arrived in good order and are all tucked in to their new beds despite chicken/turkey assistance!

Just heading out to do some stuff.
I got some Dutch onion sets I am going to stick in. By the scoop out of a bin, not the McKenzie bags. I have used both before, and I mostly prefer these for cost, both good onions. They didnt have any purple, still will try to get some.
Going to mulch my strawberries with pine mulch. Straw is great, but often get so many weed seeds with it.
I did get some parsnip seed, OSC, says sow by Dec 2021. Will give it one more try because I do like the darn things.
The WileyWanglingWolf says she has sent me some giant beet seeds and tomatoes. I think it might be like the proverbial "Your check is in the mail" ploy, but time will tell.

OK Obi Wan tell the secrets of Pine Mulch. I have a choice of straw (really old) or the worlds supply of pine needles. Don't be shy @Farrier1987 what do I have to do to make pine needles usable if anything? Lo and behold, there are a couple of different calendula sprouts peeking above the soil. They were beyond their "plant before" date.

Blueberry bushes don't mind a little pine mulch. Probably rhododendrons and other acid soil loving plants would be alright with it too.

The lettuce, radish and spinach that I planted a few weeks ago is still doing well. It has endured snow and some below zero temps. I'm far from a gardening expert but I have found that if I sow things close to my house and in a sheltered spot I can get away with extending the growing season quite a bit.
