Garlic planted and garden almost put to bed, accept for the Brussel sprouts, which are still in the garden, covered very carefully for protection from the marauding herds, or so I naively thought......

Probably thinks you are protecting them just for her. Ha! Ha! Cute to see though.

Too funny about the deer :).

I have a row of chard and a row of kale. The chickens get 2 kale leaves every day and the dogs enjoy some stalk pieces :).

I noticed they have been working on couple of green butternut squashes left out in the garden, as I am looking at the shelf full of squash in cold storage, I might be sneaking them back out again, for the deer to help with the pile, not that I want to encourage them, but I think we are already on their shopping round.

I had no idea that dogs like kale stalks ... will have to offer one to our dog to see if he likes it because, like you, I grow kale for my chickens. And quail. Because DH doesn't like kale (unless I sneak it into pasta sauce or soup).

Mother daughter team, she started with two, always brings the babies in to show them what I am planting and what will be available thru the summer to supplement their hosta / cedar diet. :)
