Tomates and cukes

Tomatoes coming in fast and furious, Pink Girl actually looks very good, just not sure when it's ripe?
love my Sweet 100 warm right of the wine, the one peculiarity of this summer are the cucumbers.
Apparently it was slim picking in the ready plant department, so beside the usual English and Lebanese and whatever, once they actually started producing some peculiar yellow orbs started to appear so found the tag and it appears I bought Lemon cucumber plant.
very odd looking and now seems to outproduce all the other plants I got about 20:1
Really glad the chickens like them, because frankly, pealing a round cucumber is something of a pain, and I don't see any difference in taste.

Apparently, it's best to eat them before they turn yellow. I thought they were ok, but nothing special. I prefer Baby Fingers.

Is anyone finding tough skin on their maters this year? I'm finding it on varieties that should be thin skinned . I think it may be due to the heat.

I didn't even notice that, but yes indeed tougher then usual, I guess the tomatoes can protect their juicy innards to some extent.
@labradors I tried them in all stages accept for the orangey, but seem to be a bit tasteless and not worth the bother, really only good as a conversation vegetable
Quite impressed with the butternut squash, learned to cook them with arrival of grandson, who says you can't teach an old dog new trick? :)
