Ok...what the heck?..been all over...why is there a sudden lack of Hubbard squash and any kind of red cabbage seed available?.. I sourced all my heritage varieties needed locally and got everything except those two...nothing, nada, nix, zilch...heck, i even got strawberry seeds which i have never seen in the racks before. I hate ordering just a few packets and have to pay the stupid shipping charge which costs more than the seeds that I'm missing....ugh

Have you heard of butterkin squash? Cross between butternut and a pie pumpkin? Really orange flesh, and supposedly dense and sweet with small seed cavity. A friend in New Zealand is sending me some seeds. Along with a few others. Available here from WH Perron. I wonder if squash hybrid/cross seeds saved would grow true? Or are they like corn, that regresses to one parent or the other? Anyone know?

Right next door to me. They ship too.

I think I'm going to try and cross a pie pumpkin and a butternut squash. And plant the seeds next year. Should be interesting! That is... if I can do it before the bugs/bees.
