I wouldn't pay that. I once paid $30 for a hosta and thought I was splurging!
Will see if I can schnagle more from my mother, if I really want some.

:-)
That's why my go to place is IGA , I think 4.99 is splurging.
Patience and couple of years and you got your $30 Day Lilly or Hosta and another couple years and you have enough to share.
And although there may be 10 000 varieties for Lillies, we don't need all of them.
In the Hosta department, there were few years I could recognize the named varieties by the leaves, then flaked out for few years and now I don't recognize the names anymore, but, the foliage hasn't changed that much.
I have 50 varieties and I bet you would be hard pressed to find anything remarkably different on the market today.

Heres a picture of the daylilies I got from costco. Just roots but they were already growing , up about 5 inches. I hope it isn't too sunny for a bit as it will likely burn the new leaves. They were 14.99 or something like that.

I don't go to our Costco. Do they carry a lot of plants? The daylily I bought from Walmart didn't grow at all, so that was a waste of money. I placed an order with Harbour Breezes. I had a wish list for some of the daylilies from Montfort. I checked on their price list and none of the ones I wanted are available this year. I wonder if they have had weather problems. All the daylilies I bought from Montfort last year are up about 2 inches.

Costco has them early but later on the roots do get dried out the longer they are in the store. If I would buy them now I would check to see if they were growing. They don't have a large variety but the ones they have are nice and they don't keep them long neither.

I ordered some daylilies from Harbour Breezes. I got all the ones I ordered and they gave me two others as bonus plants. Service was good. A few of the plants were quite small. I also ordered some daylilies from Nottasawaga Gardens. They should be shipped soon.
