Yukon Gold problems?

Post by Killerbunny » Wed Jun 20, 2018 2:46 pm

Never had any real problems with YG before. This year they were very slow to begin growing and now look very poor, only about 6" high and look odd (straggly). They are next to Red Pontiac and Russet Burbank which are going gangbusters so I don't think it's position or soil. ANyone else had problems this year? Normal supplier, virus free certified.

i have had a year where my yg were leggy and thin but they still have good potatoes at maturity...however the tubers didnt store as well for whatever reason. still. tasted fine.

I will check but they are in 2 separate areas and are the only ones affected.

No wireworms. Fine root system but it's very dry. I wonder if they don't do as well as the others in dry conditions.

I noticed they didn't have Yukon gold at the CooP this year, what they had instead and what I got is something called "Yukon Gem"
not sure if it's an indication of anything, I did wonder when I was buying it why not Yukon gold?

Vian asked in the feedstore on the way home. They said that they hadn't had any issues or complaints but he said the body language said they had!
