Lucky you, we have had a little bit of a potato tragedy here, mine arrived today and although the box was dry the bags and the potatoes were wet, which makes me think they have frozen sometime during their travels.

oh no! okay....get them dried off as best you can, and store them at room temp for a couple days to dry.....if they don't start to get brown sunken spots hopefully they'll be okay! if they do start getting sunken spots you might be able to cut them off and plant the "not mushing" part and see if it will grow....and then you'll have container potatoes.....

I have been treating them like sick babies, on layers of paper towels replaced hourly, but this is 24 hours later and they are still oozing so I am not holding much hope, they must have been frozen solid at some point in their travels.

I am afraid they are going bad in front of my eyes, 48 hours later it is pretty obvious they were too damaged and will just rot now.
What a disappointment.

I must say I feel a bit stupid now, it simply didn't occur to me that it's too late in the year to be ordering seed potatoes,
Checking some seed potato companies it appears to be a common knowledge that shipping in cold weather isn't a good idea.
Learn something every day, but this was a very expensive lesson.

– Eagle Creek Seed Potatoes
For instance, shipping 1kg of potatoes can cost between $8-$10, shipping cost on a full box can be as low as $1.9/kg. We are able to pack up to 29kg in ... allow 5-7 days for delivery. We will delay shipments due to cold weather as Canada Post can not guarantee the packages will not be exposed to freezing temperatures.

Well the seed potatoes we got of this variety are in the ground. We shall see what we get. I stored them with the rest of my own seed potatoes over the winter, and when cutting to plant, these were still fairly hard, not soft and wizened.
I planted some late March which will get evaluated as new potatoes, and some the 24 May, that I expect to be keepers. Shall maybe report in late summer how they yield, taste etc.
