Mine LOVE mint and currant tomatoes. They also like leafy veg, Kale, Cabbage & Brussels sprouts! I grow amaranth for them as well. I tie most things to the ceiling and let them swing it around the coop. They enjoy most herbs. Sage, Parsley, etc. Mint is by far their favourite though!

Wow Nicky! I didn't think to try them on herbs after they turned up their beaks at mint, but I will :) I'll ask for some amaranth seeds in the seed swap :) Don't know what it is, but it's worth a try :)

Mine will not touch any member of the mint family, and not even catnip! Also won't eat amaranths, and don't care for spinach. I think they would starve before they'll eat anything minty, or touch pigweed. I've been tempted to test that theory since I'm overrun lol. I really wanted them to eat down a patch of oregano that had gone wild, but nope, they'd eat ME first.
But, mine do love dandelion and creeping Charlie. They'll also eat wild buckwheat, which I think is a toxic (to us anyway) plant.
Oh, they love nibbling at parsley, carrot tops, celery and parsnip tops. Even the wild parsnip, the phototoxic stuff, but I don't recommend picking it for the chickens lol

The only thing I actually grow for chickens is Swiss chard, wouldn't grow it otherwise nobody here likes it,
but they get a share of everything from the garden, specially beloved all lettuce accept iceberg, love spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers, pumpkins etc , never tried mint but have lemon balm which I never tried to give them will try that tomorrow.

Mine don't like any herbs, especially not lemon balm. I have a ton of it and they never venture anywhere near it, even though it is not fenced in. Same with sage - they have free access to that raised bed and never go near it, or mint or oregano either, which I grow in large containers.
