How do you cook your Pole Beans

Post by JP* » Thu Sep 28, 2017 10:33 am

We are currently drying some Kanawahke Mohawk Pole Beans...both on the vine and out of the shell.

How do you folks cook these up once they have dried?

I have Cherokee Trail of Tears and they are a pain. They keep well but I have to soak for 2 days at least and then use them in the slow cooker to make baked beans. They are still crunchy. However they do keep exceptionally well. You might be able to pressure cook?

Thanks! Maybe I will look up a refried bean recipe.

Do you dry yours on the vine or do you shell?

I let them dry on the vine and then shook them out.
