Two of my new water lilies have started to bloom.
This one is called Grapefruit. It stands a few inches above the water. The catalog showed it as a light pink with yellow stamens. I wonder if there is something in my water that affects the color, like the pH. It opens about noon and then closes about 4:00, even if it is warm and sunny. I don't know if this is normal for it, or just because the pond is on the west side of the house.
This one is called Wanvisa. It stands above the water too, but not as high as the yellow one. It also opens about noon and closes about 4:00.

I love water lilies.

They're beautiful!

There are three more to bloom - 2 new ones and one I have had for a few years. I purposely bought plants that have different colored leaves - some are green, some are speckled and some are wine colored. There are two large lilies and three smaller ones. All are hardy lilies - not for my zone but I bring them in for the winter anyway.

I wonder if my few ducks and geese would destroy water lilies.... prolly eh....


Beautiful!!!

Here's another one of the new ones. It's called Sunrise. It also stands above the water. The flower is bigger than the other two varieties. I haven't checked any of the flowers to see if they are scented.
