New Potatoes!

In April, I set my sights on new potatoes by fathers day. I dug three plants on Sunday, and we had a meal of those wonderful little things. Will leave it another week or so before another one and we can be eating them for a while. One of life's wonderful treats!
Next meal there will be extras, and they will go in the fridge over night, for breakfast, fried in butter, then fried eggs put on top and broken so the yolks run into them, some toast and home made jam some cold goats milk to wash them down. My mouth is watering right now!
Life is good.

Wow you are so lucky, I think if I dug any of mine up they would be the size of marbles, how big were your plants and potatoes? Any pictures?

Plants are pretty much full size. Blooming. My mother always said they could be dug after the blooms fall off. I didn't wait that long, and some the size of a large egg, some down to marbles, but I eat them all. The russets skin is too tough to scrub off with a brush, Will leave them for storage. The ones I am really impressed by are the Caribes, purple skin, white flesh. Second year I have grown them, they are fairly early, yield well and store well. Three or four under a plant right now, big as an egg. Warbas are good and early too, red skin, but only about two under a plant right now.
I couldn't wait. I killed another three plants for supper tonight, with garlic scapes. Will have some fried in the morning with eggs. Tonight and tomorrow morning are as exciting to me as Christmas was when I was a kid.

Nothing quite as good as fresh baby potatoes.

Jealous here too, I am just thrilled that I see green on top, haven't even thought of anything underneath yet.
Half of the potatoes I planted were from last years sprouted by January , although the tops look healthy, I am a bit afraid that might have started some potato disaster or that they will bloom and die without ever forming actual potatoes .
